March 2015

Japan Trip to Ibaraki, Mito!
Part mission trip, part vacation (Spring Break Adventures)

Stopping by the fish market, grabbing a small bite.
Warm food samples, just like Costco, except we can't read what it says.

huge fish.. lots of fish!
They even were selling dolphin meat

The above picture is Asa coming with us to buy food to make curry dinner for wakame workers.  There are struggling businesses that are trying to rebuild the city on the coast, destroyed from the tsunami.  Workers work from about 6am-6pm doing manual labor.

Below is Asa performing a sign dance to the elderly.
We helped take the elderly for a stroll around the park to see the "cherry blossom trees."
They hardly get to go outside so it was a treat for them, and they had a "picnic" lunch.

We spent one day at the huge aquarium.
It was kinda funny that connected, was a sashimi place.

We also got to spend a day at Disney Sea (in Japan)
Somehow the food tastes better when it's on a Mickey plate :)

...and shaped like Mickey

churros & popsicles!

Asa & Kolten trying to fit in with the Power Rangers

Squatting toilets was a cultural experience.

We told Asa to take a nap.  He uses his yen as eye shades.

In the mall, there are little urinals for mom's who take their young sons.
So thoughtful

And this restaurant had a buzzer to ring the waitress when ready :)

Working on our Japanese will help us out more next time.
